Tom Slade, Executive Director

Tom Slade co-founded the Cincinnati Tradition Drum & Bugle Corps in 1985.  He was the director of Tradition in all but 5 years.  Tom started his drum corps career in 1971 and marched in junior corps until 1976. Tom joined the ranks of instructor in 1977-1978.  He assisted in organizing the start of the Pride of Cincinnati Drum & Bugle Corps and has been organizing drum corps ever since!  He just retired from 33 years in the Cincinnati Police Department.  Tom has been married for 37 years with 2 adult children and 2 grandchildren.

Andrea Meyer, Assistant Director

Andrea returns for her fourteenth season with Cincinnati Tradition.

 Andrea currently is the Assistant Director of Cincinnati Tradition. Previously she has instructed color guard with numerous High Schools in the Cincinnati area, including Moeller, Lawrenceburg, Colerain, Milford, Fairfield , Roger Bacon, West Union, and Peebles High Schools. Her teaching experience also includes tenures with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps as a color guard tech from 1991 through 1994, one year instructing the University of Louisville Marching Band and one season as a tech with University of Cincinnati Bearcat color guard.

 Andrea's performance experience began in 1984 at Colerain High School, and includes three years with the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps color guard from 1988 to 1990. She also was a member of the Cincinnati Tradition color guard in 1986 & 1987, 2007 & 2008 and 2010 through 2015. In 2016, she moved to the administrative team of CT as Assistant Director.

Jim Schehr, Business Manager

Jim has been involved in the drum corps activity for most of his life. A marching performer, percussion technician, percussion caption head, staff coordinator, board member, consultant, volunteer, donor, and now as business manager. Jim and his Wife Terri reside in Aurora, IL. Jim is employed as a proposal engineer professional serving as a subject matter expert in enterprise level security integrations, providing technical solutions, design engineering services, estimating, and the negotiating of contracts for critical infrastructure facilities globally.


Nick Angelis, Program Co-Coordinator/Staff Coordinator

Nick is in his 12th year as The Assistant Band Director for The University of Cincinnati Bearcat Bands.

He has been involved in the drum corps activity since 1979. Throughout 16 consecutive seasons, he marched with The Satellites from Leicester, MA from 1980-87, The Spartans from N.H. 88 and 89, The Boston Crusaders 90-91, The Santa Clara Vanguard 1992, The Star of Indiana 1993, Brass Theater 1994, and aged-out of The Blue Knights from Denver, Col. in 1995

As a marching performer, he was crowned The 1992 Drum Corps International Rudimental Snare Drum World Champion, 1993 Drum Corps Midwest Champion and was a part of the legendary1993 Star of Indiana World Champion Percussion section.

Nick has taught and or written, for numerous marching bands and drum corps all around the country including:

In 1994, he performed as a soloist in Star of Indiana’s Brass Theater Featuring The Canadian Brass.

From 1999-2003 Nick was the Original Featured Star snare drum soloist performer for The Tony and Emmy award-Winning Show, Blast!  He performed in London at The Hammersmith Apollo Theatre, opened in New York City at The Broadway Theater and was in The 1st National Tour, performing in over 40 cities across The United States and Canada

Nick was the opening solo performer introduced by Walter Cronkite at the Kennedy Center Honors for President Clinton. He also performed on NBC’s, “Broadway on Broadway” in front of 50,000 people live in Time Square, NYC.

Nick attended The University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he received a degree in Music Education. He is currently working on his Master’s in Percussion Performance at Wright State University with Pr. Jerry Noble. He has studied under Thom Hannum, Ralph Hardimon, Alan Murray, Scott Johnson, Colin Mcnutt, Jim Ancona

Tim Snyder

Tim Snyder, Program Co-Coordinator & Brass Design

Tim officially joins the Education Team as Program Co-Coordinator, as well as our Brass Arranger. Previously he has worked with the ensemble as a Consultant, and looks forward to stepping into this new role with Tradition.

Tim is currently serving as the Brass Caption Head for the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps and Assistant Director for the Eastern High School Marching Band of Louisville, KY. His experience includes tenures on the Brass Staff for Carolina Crown and the Madison Scouts.

Tim and his Wife Robin reside in Louisville, KY with their children, where they run Box5Media, their company dedicated to capturing media for theMarching Arts.
